Work In Process for Direction

Hello everyone … I’m Xue Jiao

Description on the individual ideation of link

I will design the direction. In the direction, we have “click here” and “home” links.We choose the “click here” because it very easy to understand for visitors.They do not have to waste time to find the links that they want to visits.

Objective of links

This links is meant to guide the people/ tourist on the way to reach A famosa. Detail direction will be provided to ensure the tourist know the exact direction of A Famosa.

Design of GUI

I want to make all designs clear and simple. I use pictures to attract the visitors’ eyes.The background and handwriting and other design will be uniform as in #966 for the background color and Algerian handwriting for the link.

Photoshop

We have already learnt the Photoshop and therefore, I will be using several tools in Photoshop to create button tools, creative backgrounds and perfect editing tools for photographs and links.

Dreamweaver

Dreamweaver is very useful for me to create the website. I can use CSS to design GUI of webpage.Now we are learning this tools .I feel more and more interesting to use this too

-Description of individual ideation of the link

This is one of the subtopic for A Famosa. Basically, page shows the actual location of A Famosa. There will be a map to show the A Famosa exact location.

-Objective of the link.

Many people heard of A Famosa. But do they know where it is located. That's what this links purpose.This link is really important as this link will show the people where A Famosa is located.

- GUI

As already mention earlier in the "work in progress" blog, our group main theme is simple and precise. Due to this, i already created a potential design of my subtopic. Purpose is to enable the people to get the information about A Famosa clearly and faster. As we know, A Famosa is a historical place,i think simplicity will be the best things for us to show in the pages.

Work In Progress for Transportation/Getting There Link

I'm Diana and this is the work in progress report week 8 for Transportation/Getting There Link.

• Description on the individual ideation of the link

The “Getting there” link is a sub link of our “A Famosa” site. Since Sam allows us to design our individual links in any ways, the idea for “Getting there” would be just simple with easy navigations and straightforward menus and buttons. There would be information and directions with the use of clear pictures. The link would provide information for tourists and targeted groups and since it will be quite direct, visitors will get easy navigation of the link. The link will be able to provide the necessary information like the mode of transportation and other relevant information. Other than that, visitors will be able to come back to older pages or links and visit back the link again.

• Objective of the link

Like its name “Getting there”, the objective of the link is simple, that is to provide information and relevant details about the mode of transportations to the A Famosa site, which is the cultural site we are focusing on. The link will be provided necessary information with the use of pictures for clearer view.

• Design of GUI

The design of the GUI will emphasize uses of pictures and icons to navigate the website. There will be menu buttons created and designed using Photoshop and the interface design is basically going to be simple and direct. I will make the overall design simple and it will be quite interactive using the Dreamweaver. I will be using good quality pictures with some editing, and simple menu buttons to go to other sub links of “Getting There”. Visitors will be able to visit other links and other sub links of my link. They will be able to get information about transportations to A Famosa. The background and handwriting and other design will be uniform as in #966 for the background color and Algerian handwriting for the link.

This is one of the potential designs of the link. Visitors will be able to navigate and get direct information quickly. The buttons are sample and I will make the buttons using Photoshop.

Photoshop

We have learnt several basic tools using Photoshop and therefore, as a member, I will be using several tools in Photoshop to create button tools, creative backgrounds and perfect editing tools for photographs for the “Transportation/Getting There” link. A simple button can be created using brush tools and boxes with layer adjustments to make them look just nice. Use of tools

Dreamweaver

This is to be used when creating the link itself. I will be using a lot of CSS and several creative tools to make the design of GUI of the webpage. There will be uses of links to allow sub links. Layouts and adjustments including picture rollover to make it much more attractive.

Flash

We have yet to learn it, therefore I have not planned anything with it yet.

c) Concept:

The concept of our webpages is simple and precise. Since the topic that we choose is A Famosa a historical place, me and my group decided to make the page as simple as possible.Every members are designing their own subtopic pages so the part that synchronize us is the Font used,the font size and the color use.

OBJECTIVE

To provide information about A-Famosa to the eyes of the public especially to all international students. This sites will be a guide for people who plan to visits A-Famosa. The information provided in this sites include History, Location, Direction,Activity,Demography

All the information we need for the content are all ready. We already decide the fonts and the

background color.Now, the only task left would be designing the webpages and put all the

necessary information in the webpages to become one complete webpage about the A Famosa.

d)Group Meeting :

Conducting the group meeting to discuss about the font that we suppose to use, the

background color, and the layout. Like any other team, the meeting time, is really hard for

us to actually meet .So, we do conduct meeting in MSN. This method not only save time and

it's really efficient too( while discussing on the MSN we can find information through internet).

The main page is the HOME page. From there we can see the main subtopics links which is the history,activity,direction, location and transportation. The other supporting links will be the gallery and about us.

Updated! On Target Audience.

Our website will focus on the cultural site, A Famosa, so we will expect these type of visitors or target audience:

1. Male and female groups, aged 18 to 55, who want to know more about the cultural site so they will need much details from this website.

2. These groups will be divided into several sub groups with different interests and wants. The younger groups and the older groups.

3. We will expect the older group to know more about information about the site such as the historical data or information, nearby rest area and transportation.

4. The younger group are expected to know more about cheap budget tours, as they may be looking for budgeted tour for their visit. They may be looking for information related to the sites such as adventure and interesting activities that may be held at the site.

5. Families are also expected to be our target audience, looking for interesting family activities like the night safari and zoo including education tours and historical tours with their children. They may be looking for information related to the site such as bookings, family packages, etc.

6. It brings us to potential young visitors too, such as children. So parents would want to look for information about the site, any learning activities, etc.

Foreign visitors are also expected to visit A famosa, from countries such as Korea and other Asian countries, they might be looking for information like, nearby accomodation, gift shops, site facts, site information and others. Based on this research we will be able to identify our potential target audience who will be reading our website, and we will be able to cater them the information needed.
